Audio Sharing in a Video Call

Sharing audio while screen sharing so that other particpants can hear it too involves a few steps. The process can vary slightly depending on the browser you're using, but here's a guide for the most popular browsers: Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. We recommend Chrome or Edge for the most reliable experience.

Instructions for sharing audio differs based on your particular operating system and browser.

In most scenarios, the audio sharing option is available only while sharing a browser tab. In other cases, the audio sharing option is only available when sharing the entire screen.

For Chrome and Edge Users (Desktop)

These instructions work for users on computers using Chrome or Edge browsers.

1. Open Your Video: First, open the browser of your choice (Chrome or Edge). Navigate to the video you want to share in a browser tab. This could be a video on a streaming platform, a social media site, in a Powerpoint presentation, or any audio/video file on your computer.

If the audio/video file is located on your computer, the video must be loaded in the browser. Drag and dropping the file onto the browser can be quick way to do this.

2. Start Your Call: In another browser window, enter the DemoHop Booth or Keynote and join your meeting.

3. Share Your Screen: Look for the Share button at the bottom below the video of yourself. Click on it.

Click Share

4. Choose to Share Audio: After clicking "Share ," you should see an option to share the sound from your computer. Make sure you select this option. Usually this option will be available only when sharing a specific browser TAB.

5. Select Your Tab: You'll be prompted to choose what you want to share. Select the tab where your video is playing.

6. Start Sharing: After selecting the tab and making sure you've chosen to share audio, click "Share" or "Present." Your video will now be visible and audible to everyone in the meeting.

For Safari Users (macOS and iOS)

Safari users on macOS and iOS devices can share videos too, but the process might be slightly different, especially for audio sharing.

1. Open Your Video: Open Safari and navigate to the video you want to share.

2. Join Your Meeting: In a new tab or window, and join your DemoHop booth or keynote and start the video call.

3. Share Your Screen: Find the "Share" option in the bottom menu. Click on it.

4. Select What to Share: You will be asked what you want to share. Choose your entire screen or the specific window where the video is playing. On macOS, you can share the whole screen to ensure audio is shared. On iOS, screen sharing options might be limited and sharing system audio directly might not be supported in all cases.

5. Start Sharing: Confirm your selection and start the screen sharing. Note that on iOS, directly sharing video with audio through Safari to a meeting can have limitations due to system restrictions.

For Firefox Users (Desktop)

Firefox users on desktop computers can also share videos with audio in meetings.

1. Open Your Video: Launch Firefox and go to the video you wish to share.

2. Join Your Meeting: Open your meeting platform in another tab or window and connect to your meeting.

3. Share Your Screen: Find and click the "Share " option in the bottom menu.

4. Choose Your Video: You'll see options for what to share. Firefox typically asks you to choose between your entire screen, a window, or a tab. Choose the browser tab where your video is playing.

5. Check for Audio Options: Firefox may not always explicitly offer an option to share audio when selecting a tab. If you're sharing a tab where a video is playing, it often includes audio by default.

6. Confirm and Share: After selecting the tab with your video, confirm and start sharing. Your meeting participants should now be able to see and hear the video.

General Tips:

- Test Beforehand: If you're planning to share a video during an important meeting, it's a good idea to do a quick test run with a friend or colleague to ensure everything works smoothly.

- Use Headphones: To avoid feedback or echo, consider using headphones while sharing video and audio during your DemoHop.

By following these steps, you should be able to share videos with audio in DemoHop Live Demos and Keynotes across different browsers and platforms, enhancing your presentations or viewing experiences together.
